Why I Chose This Work:

Simply put, the night my oldest child was born, I found what sets my soul on fire.
I found out that birth is a life-altering experience, and when a woman enters into this experience with support, knowledge, and love, she will be born again as the most powerful force to change the world in existence: a new mother.
For a long time, birth has been shrouded in fear and doubt. Women have been made to believe that they are not responsible for their own births. We have been told that birth is painful and dangerous; that it is something to be endured, survived,
and forgotten. We have been told that we need to be saved from our own bodies.
But a truth is rising, a movement in which women are taking back birth. If you are pregnant now, you are part of that truth. If you are seeking out information, resources, and finding passion and fulfillment in this journey you are on, you are part of that movement.
The idea of empowered birth was "crazy" until it wasn't, just as most of the world's most amazing ideas are considered outrageous until they are proven to be true. For women, for mothers, and for birth, I believe that time is now.

My Philosophy:

If we do not know our options, we have none.
I believe it is the right of a pregnant woman to seek knowledge and supportive care providers, so that she can be an active participant in her own birth.
I believe that there is no right or wrong way to give birth.
Every woman, every pregnancy, and every baby is different. A wonderful birth experience can only be defined by the mother herself, and it is her right to choose the options which work best for her.
Hospital birth, home birth, epidural or medication-free, planned cesarean or VBAC; the options are out there.
The choices are YOURS.
As a doula, I will support you in your choices and assist you so that whichever birth you choose will feel like the sacred and beautiful experience it is intended to be.

About Partners:

As a first-time father, my husband knew how much he could benefit me during my birth process, so he got prepared.
He took a 12-week Bradley Method course and played an active role in both of our births.
Now, as a doula, I remember how wonderful it was to have the support of my partner during my own birth experiences, and I carry that memory with me into my encounters with women entering into that same journey who have partners traveling with them.
I believe in empowering partners with the education and tools necessary to assist them in becoming active, confident
participants in the births of their children. Whether it is simply holding Mom's hand or employing active pain-relief techniques, I support a birth partner's right to be as involved in the birth of their child as they feel they want to be.

About Me

I believe in mindful parenting and personal growth, and that the journey of parenthood begins well before birth.
I decided to have my babies at home, and in the process became a fan of Hypnobabies and placenta encapsulation.
I am an active member of the Brevard Birth Circle, an organization dedicated to educating and empowering pregnant mothers and their partners here on the Space Coast.
Having experienced a challenging breastfeeding journey myself, I am passionate about assisting mothers who choose this path with their breastfeeding relationships.
I completed my birth doula workshop and breastfeeding education course with DONA International.
I live in Melbourne with my husband Billy and our two daughters, Ruby and Hazel.
