I became interested in childbirth in 2003 with the birth of my first child. Now a mother of three, I have personally experienced a variety of birth situations, including an unplanned Cesarean surgery and two successful vaginal births after Cesarean (VBAC), which have influenced me greatly on my journey as a mother and birth doula. For the birth of my youngest, I became acquainted with Hypnobabies and discovered the amazing power of natural, unmedicated birth.  I desire to help mothers trust their bodies, understand the birth process, and effectively speak up for themselves and their families. In addition, I help mothers protect and cherish their memories of their labors.

During labor, I physically assist Mom in labor by helping her relax using a variety of methods: position suggestions, visualization, soothing music, massage, scents. I provide emotional support through encouragement, compassion and empathy to both Mom and her partner. Additionally, I recognize the importance of Dad/partner’s role in the labor and help Dad to remain relaxed, focused on Mom and a participant at the level he feels comfortable. I “help Dad help Mom.”

Learning to make the best choices possible throughout pregnancy and childbirth teaches parents how to become even better as a family. I firmly believe that birth sets the foundation for the family, and I want to help every mother begin courageously, confidently and competently on her journey to motherhood.

I am a certified doula with DONA International trained doula, a childbirth educator with Birth Resources of Brevard and I volunteer teaching childbirth classes at a local pregnancy outreach center.  I have particular experience with VBAC and Hypnobabies.
