Heather has been providing support and education to birthing families for almost 10 years. She
is a researcher at heart and began(and continues) her journey by reading everything she could
get her hands on about birth and birth options, learning to discriminate between evidence &
opinion (some of those pregnancy books can read like science fiction!), and attending workshops
on how to interpret medical studies and translate them into usable information for families.
Heather’s passion is supporting birthing families in knowing their options and having as much
information as they want or need to make the best choices for their own birth experience. It is
her goal for each mother to receive the respect and support she deserves as she brings new life
into the world.
“If I don’t know my options, I don’t have any.” – Diana Korte
"I don't care what kind of birth you have...a homebirth, scheduled cesarean, an epidural
hospital birth or if you give birth alone in the woods next to a baby deer. I care that you had
options, that you were supported in your choices and that you were respected.”
– January Harshe
In the same vein, Heather founded and facilitates the Space Coast Cesarean & VBAC Support
Group. Currently the only active support group in Brevard County addressing the unique
journey surrounding cesarean births, the group can be found on Facebook and meets monthly at
Beautiful Beginnings Birth Center.
While providing information got her into birth and remains a huge part of what she offers to the
community, Heather loves being in the moment with her clients and supporting, encouraging,
cheering them on as they transition from pregnancy to life with a newborn for the first or the
tenth time. She knows that every experience, every birth, every child is unique and nothing is
more exciting or humbling than to walk that journey over and over again with each family she is
blessed to work for.
When she’s not drinking coffee or supporting moms, Heather is Mama to 5 active boys and
married to a high school teacher, it’s a loud, messy life and she loves every minute of it!
*Heather began offering professional placenta encapsulation services in 2013 and continues to
offer this service as a stand alone or in a package with doula support. More info about
placenta encapsulation can be found on her website.*
